Seminar Plans, Procedures and Policies

Our Video Scrapbooking Seminars are most often scheduled for Saturday Mornings from 10:00am to 1pm. The presentation consists of thirty-minute discussions each of;
  • Digital archiving of photos, 
  • Digital archiving of 35mm slides 
  • Conversion of 8mm films
  • Conversion of consumer videocassette formats (VHS, Hi, 8, MiniDV, DVDcam)
  • Free software to archive and edit images and video
  • Archiving smartphone captures
  • Displaying archive on Smart TVs

At the end of the discussion, retired broadcast television engineer Harry Shelton answers questions or offers tips for attendees.

A medium-sized room with tables and chairs is required (a classroom with a digital projector or a 60" TV Monitor is preferred to display the powerpoint and video samples). The typical class size is 20. Snacks (Muffins, juice packs, soft drinks, cookies, raisins and crackers) are served. Yes, we bring the snacks!

Different plans are available for various groups. 
The seminar must be booked and scheduled in advance. A poster promoting the event is provided to the organization to raise interest. A signup sheet is provided.

Church/Social Organization Fundraiser:
  The Church/Social Organization Promotion program is based on a revenue (50/50) split of the revenue generated. The Organization will assign a member to coordinate the event. The cost per participant is $60.00. (a married couple can attend for $100.00.) 18 participants are the minimum number required to schedule a seminar.  (Typically, one third of all those who sign up will ultimately not attend due to life circumstances (loss of income, illness, etc.).  All fees must be collected in advance by the Organization Coordinator and held until the presenter arrives and is ready to begin the presentation. Cash is preferred, but a business check written by the organization can be accepted (Checks are cleared immediately.)


Here is a typical promotion:
Sign ups:               4 married couples  =  $400.00
                         18 Singles =                  $1080.00
                          Total=                           $1480.00
       - 1 married couple cancelled           -$100.00
                                                               $1380.00
   -6 singles cancelled                             -$360.00
 Total Revenue collected                        $1020.00


Divide by 2 = $510.00 to the Organization
                         $510.00 honorarium to Harry Shelton Video Films

 
Upon arrival, the fee is paid to the presenter and no refunds can be paid after the class has begun. If the presenter is unable to present at the time scheduled, the seminar can be rescheduled or the fees returned to the members. A workbook with a course outline and room to take notes is provided to the participants. No recording by sound, video or still photos is permitted during the presentation.


Community Program.  (Senior Communities):
This program is simply a lecture fee of $550.00 for the three-hour lecture. The community can price the cost to suit their needs. For instance: at $40.00 per person, the participants could number 30.
